The horsefly’s weakness!

Bzzzzz…bzzzzzz………bzzzzzz….land….take off….smack…missed…flying behind head…knows my eyes are in front….put sunglasses on backwards…not fooled…..damn pinhead sized brain knows I’m fucking with it…..maybe Co2 exhalation?  Hold breath…momentary bug confusion….not fooled…back behind head…arrgggghhhh!  Bzzzzz….bzzzzzz….lands….can’t tell if still on skin….too relaxed too swat for tenth time….owwwwww dammit!!!  Avalanche of hot pain; crescendo of dot-focused agony primal instinct motivating and sailor cursing effisms. I think I’m a moderate pacifist, and as a rule will go to decent lengths to avoid being the ender of life big or small; the infinitely complex and intertwined balance of ecology and Mother Nature’s grace well outside my baleywick.  Horsefly’s though really put a hitch in my get-along….a seemingly single-purposed irritant with an electric shock-like stinging bite that can stiffly harsh your mellow.   You’ve got to draw the line somewhere, and for me it’s straight across apathetic resignation to intermittent torture; ‘specially on a sunny free-time day, so few-and-far-between they lay. I think last summer while being an asshole I may have accidentally stumbled onto the horsefly’s weakness; the fatal flaw which can be exploited to restore the peace!!!   First off the horsefly knows when you’re looking at them…so get on your shades for stealth and work yourself into bug-killing alter-ego…..Guy Incognito.         Horsefly lands….tick tock tick tock tick tock…throw a fake –why I outta!- swat attempt; horsefly airborne in instant…defenses heightened; wings flapping at maximum speed for evasive maneuvers; thousands...

 Matthew Good – 2007 – Hospital Music – Track 4 – 99% of Us is Failure Matthew Good is a Canadian singer/songwriter born in Burnaby, BC on June 29, 1971, and now living in sunny Vancouver.  Good was involved with the Matthew Good Band from 1993-2002 with drummer Ian Browne, guitarist/keyboardist Dave Genn, and original bassist Geoff Lloyd, later replaced by Rich Priske.  After MGB disbanded in 2002, Good went on to release several solo albums including 2007’s Hospital Music.
